Taliban militants block ways to Kabul Airport, shoot to disperse crowd

The armed Taliban militants, who seized the power in Afghanistan, have blocked the ways to Kabul Airport as Reuters reported.

"It's a complete disaster. The Taliban were firing into the air, pushing people, beating them with AK47s," one person said, who was trying to get through.

The official representative of the Taliban said that the commanders and soldiers fired into the air to disperse the crowd near the airport.

 "We have no intention to injure anyone,” the militant added.

On August 15, the Taliban militants seized Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said that he had left the country to avoid bloodshed as the Taliban entered the capital Kabul. Members of the diplomatic missions of the Western countries and their staff consisting of locals did not evacuate and they stay in the capital airport, where chaos is observed.

It was reported that the air space over Kabul is closed for a flight of any civilian planes; only military aviation can fly there.

As we reported, Ukraine evacuated from Afghanistan on its plane Ukrainians and the citizens of four more countries. Later, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky specified on Twitter that almost 80 people were evacuated from Afghanistan on the Ukrainian plane. The number includes eight Ukrainians and citizens of other states who asked about the urgent evacuation.
