Switzerland extended the arrest of accounts of former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych for another year. This is stated in the press-service of the Government of Switzerland.
It is reported that the decision was taken at a meeting of the Federal Council on December 9. It was decided to extend the arrest of accounts of the overthrown leader of Ukraine Yanukovych, Tunisia's Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali and Hosni Mubarak, who kept their money in Swiss banks. They also reported the arrest of accounts of persons close to the deposed rulers. However, the list of these people is not specified.
The government stressed that the extension of the freeze "is expected to bring a significant result and to clarify whether the assets in question to be returned."
Since 2014 on the accounts of Yanukovych 70 million Swiss francs (almost $ 70 million) are frozen.
The GPU agents in Ukraine arrested ex-president Viktor Yanukovych’s finances in the amount of approximately 127 million dollars. The State Service of financial monitoring, in turn, blocked funds oh 19 non-resident companies, which have been associated with the environment of the former president of Ukraine in the amount of $ 1.34 billion.
Yanukovych himself argues that he never had accounts abroad.
