Suspect in the organization of the attack on Kherson activist Kateryna Handziuk Oleksiy Levin (Moskalenko) was identified through fingerprints as he changed his appearance as Slidstvo.Info reported citing the Bulgarian police.
The law enforcers noted that the detained man did not look similar to the photo from the Interpol base and they had to identify him through fingerprints. During the detention at Levin’s home, two passports, Ukrainian and foreign, were confiscated.
Besides, the police said that the man came to Bulgarian from Romania in 2018, crossing the border on foot in Durankulak village. According to the law enforcers, he did not register in Bulgaria.
On January 24, the law enforcers detained Oleksiy Levin in Bulgaria. Levin was arrested in absentia. The investigators consider him to be the organizer of the crime. The Prosecutor General's Office filed to Bulgaria the materials on the extradition to Ukraine of Oleksiy Levin.
Levin was detained in Europe in August 2019, questioned on the polygraph and released. The Security Service of Ukraine could file the request on his extradition but did not do it.
On November 4, 2018, it became known that Kateryna Handziuk died at the age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July this year. According to preliminary information, her death was caused by blood clot's detachment.
Besides, the doctors specified the cause of death; it was due to multiple organ failure and chemical burns.
