Supreme Court changes jurisdiction in case of MP Yefremov

Portnov expects that Yefremov will be released soon

The Supreme Court changed the jurisdiction in case of ex-head of Party of Regions Oleksandr Yefremov as Andry Portnov, the ex-Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Viktor Yanukovych reported on Facebook.

“Friends, I welcome the decision of the Supreme Court on the change of the jurisdiction in the case on a change of the restrictive measures for Oleksandr Yefremov. There is no more change to keep him in jail,” Portnov wrote.

He expects that Yefremov will be released “soon”.

At the same time, Portnov did not mention, which court will consider the case of Yefremov.

Yefremov is suspected of state treason, the takeover of the building of the state regional administration in Luhansk in spring 2014 organization. He also faced charges of assisting in the takeover of Ukraine’s Security Service office in Luhansk region, when it was captured by the pro-Kremlin militants. 

Yefremov was detained in airport Kyiv in July 2016. He is in custody in the Starobilsk pretrial facility in Luhansk region now.
