Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said about the inadmissibility of the influence on the situation around the detention of Mikheil Saakashvili in Georgia. It is reported by European Truth, referring to Imedi news.
"Their position (of the state of Ukraine, - ed.) is understandable, because he is their citizen. The embassy has communication, there was a contact with an employee of the embassy, who will give the Ukrainian side all the information they are interested in. The information published yesterday by the prosecutor's office will be immediately transferred to Ukrainian friends," Zalkaliani said.
He expressed confidence that "calmly, peacefully, we will have clarifications on all issues, and our relations with Ukraine will continue to develop as they had been developing before."
"It is unacceptable for one person to take hostage the strategic partnership between Georgia and Ukraine," Zalkaliani added.
In the morning, the Foreign Ministry held a meeting with the Charge d'Affaires of Georgia. The Ukrainian side announced the need to observe Saakashvili's rights. The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry promised the necessary protection of Saakashvili as a citizen of Ukraine.
