NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has urged the international society to investigate the incident with Ryanair flight as founder of opposition Telegram-channel Nexta Roman Protasevich was detained during the emergency landing in Minsk Airport as Stoltenberg wrote on Twitter.
“Closely monitoring forcible landing in Belarus of flight to Vilnius and reported detention of opposition figure Roman Protasevich. This is a serious and dangerous incident which requires international investigation. Belarus must ensure safe return of crew and all passengers,” he stated.

According to data of the internet-based service of monitoring of air transport Flightradar, the plane of Ryanair Company that held forced landing in Minsk has landed in Vilnius about 21:30 at the local time as Interfax-Ukraine reported.
On Mat 23, founder of the largest opposition telegram channel of Belarus NEXTA, journalist Roman Protasevich, was detained in Minsk. The plane with Roman Protasevich on board flew from Athens to Vilnius. Suddenly, the plane gave a distress signal, changed course and made an emergency landing at the Minsk National Airport. The emergency landing was caused by a mining signal.
On behalf of the commander-in-chief, a fighter was raised to accompany the passenger plane. Now the MiG-29 is waiting for the necessary verification measures to be completed to escort the plane to the border with Lithuania.
