Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE Alexander Lukashevich said that the necessary amendments related to granting Donbas special status do not end with approving the text of the "Steinmeier Plan" in the Contact Group (TCG). It is necessary that all aspects of legislative consolidation of the special status of Donbas be discussed with representatives of certain parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated this.
The report says that at the moment, the progress of the peace process depends on Kyiv, which will have to implement the "Steinmeier formula" in the legislation of Ukraine.
"We need the maximum activation of the work of Contact Group, where Kyiv and Donbas have all the opportunities for direct dialogue," Lukashevich said.
With positive dynamics, conditions will be created for preparing the Normandy format meeting, and the prospect of holding it will become clear after confirmation of the withdrawal of troops in Petrovske and Zolote settlements, which sides plan to start from October 7.
The Russian Foreign Ministry urges the Ukrainian government to take a responsible approach to assessing the situation in wastern Ukraine and use the chance to achieve peace.
