The State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine opened a criminal case against several MPs from Opposition Platform - For Life party. The list includes the party's Chairman of Political Council Viktor Medvedchuk, the political force's co-founder Vadym Rabinovych, and their colleagues in the parliamentary faction - Tetyana Plachkova, Renat Kuzmin, Taras Kozak and Oleksandr Koltunovych.
According to Rabinovych, it is a political move that the current government resorts to before the election, as the level of public trust to this power keeps falling.
"Currently, we've got these local election ahead of us, and they will define the life in our country to certain extent. And the "greens" (reference to presidential party colors, - 112 International) completely lose it, and they're on their way to disaster, they already know it (...) And now, they do not know how to cope with the growing public trust for our party, they made another decision - they prepare repressions and arrests of opposition members", Rabinovych said.
"The criminal case is opened (...) What kind of a crime did I and my comrades commit? It reads: "They came to Moscow and spoke with MPs of the Russian Duma about peace". So they believe it was a state treason", the MP said.
