The main problem of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor (SAP)'s Office is its leader Nazar Kholodnytsky. Hugues Mingarelli, the head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine said so in his interview with Yevropeiska Pravda outlet.
Answering the question whether the anti-corruption agencies in Ukraine should be re-booted for more effective work, the official said the following: "As for SAP, it is quite clear that the problems are related to Mr. Kholodnytsky personally. It isn't up to me to decide whether he should or should not be replaced, but it's obvious that the SAP leader should be able to cooperate with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, and this is not what's happening now".
Nazar Kholodnytsky chaired the SAP in December 2015. He also currently serves as the Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
As it was reported earlier, head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli has expressed hope that the incumbent leadership of Ukraine will continue implementing reforms that will promote rapprochement with the EU. He said he had no doubt about the vector. He hopes that the new leadership of Ukraine will work towards European integration. The positive thing is that they will not need to start from scratch, because some progress has already been made in implementing the Association Agreement, he said.
Earlier, Hugues Mingarelli stated that the reforms in Ukraine are not implemented fast enough as this process faces active resistance.
