Iran’s judiciary has arrested some people for their role in the crash of a Ukrainian plane that was hit by an Iranian missile, judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili said on Tuesday. Reuters reported that.
However, he did not give any further details.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressed his regret that missiles launched by his army “by mistake” led to the crash of the Ukrainian plane in Tehran.
"Armed Forces’ internal investigation has concluded that, regrettably, missiles fired due to human error caused the horrific crash of the Ukrainian plane & death of 176 innocent people," Rouhani said.
As we reported earlier, the Main Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has launched a pre-trial investigation into the UIA crash in Iran under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Interfax-Ukraine agency informed about it with reference to SBU.
“Security Service, on behalf of the Prosecutor General's Office, started investigating the circumstances of the Boeing crash under Article 276, Part 3 (violation of traffic safety rules or exploitation of air transport), Article 115, Part 2 (intentional homicide) and Article 194 (intentional destruction or damage of property) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the message reads.
