The issue of Minister of Internal Affairs possible resignation will be considered at a meeting of the Servant of the People faction on Monday, June 1. This was stated by Denys Monastyrsky, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement Affairs, on the air of Espreso TV channel.
“Frankly, the positions have not yet been formed - we have not yet discussed this with the faction, our meeting will be held on Monday evening, just after the meeting of the relevant committee. We will discuss this, of course,” Monastyrsky said.
He noted that the main thing in assessing the effectiveness of the Ministry leadership will be how fast and big was the assistance in the investigation of cases of torture and rape of a woman in the Kagarlyk police dept and shooting in Brovary.
“I am a supporter of the fact that in these cases it is necessary to consider the reasons and the reactions of the relevant authorities to this situation. That is, were there facts of concealing evidence in these cases, how much assistance was provided and how fast the investigation was. I think that it will be key in evaluating the effectiveness of the National Police and the relevant ministry," Monastyrsky added.
We recall that on May 25, the National Security Department of the National Police detained two policemen from the Kagarlyk police department on suspicion of rape. Former police officers have already been placed in jail. The chief of police Igor Klymenko signed an order on the dissolution of the Kagarlyk department, the removal of all its leadership and the head of the Obukhiv district department.
Later, on the morning of May 29, a massive shootout occurred in Brovary. As it became known, there was a conflict between entrepreneurs engaged in passenger transportation and illegal carriers.
