The Serbian Radical Party, which is in opposition to the acting government and the second largest party in the parliament, is planning to put for voting the recognition of the occupied Crimean peninsula Russian territory. Leader of the party Seselj Aleksandar announced such plans, reports Izvestia.
According Seselj, at the moment there are no obstacles for the Serbian parliament, government or president to admit the results of a referendum held on the peninsula in 2014.
Representatives of the party addressed with this statement the President Aleksandar Vučić, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and the Foreign Ministry Ivica Dačić during a session of parliament on 7 June.
"Russia has always been a key partner for Serbia. It is a fact confirmed by the history. Moscow supports Belgrade regarding Kosovo and Metohija. However Serbia in fact does not recognize the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation. We want Belgrade to refuse from the hypocritical policy and officially recognize Crimea an integral part of Russia," the head of the party said.
He specified that the issue is scheduled to be put to the vote in September. Radicals are planning to prepare a resolution in which their positions will be detailed during summer.
As it was reported earlier, Crimea was annexed by Russia by way of the illegal referendum that was held at the peninsula in March 2014. Earlier the Russian militaries that stayed there without any marking conquered all strategic military objects and building of the force and state bodies. The results of the referendum were not recognized by Ukraine and the world society. The number of the European and world countries, including Ukraine imposed the economic sanctions against Russia.
