Released Ukrainian film director Oleg Sentov burned his prison uniform as activist of Avtomaidan Maksym Prokopenko reported on Facebook.

“It is the custody suite; the most loathed thing on the earth. I will burn it now,” Sentsov said.

Firstly, he doused clothes in gasoline and then set it on fire saying “burn in hell”.

Oleg Sentsov, the Ukrainian filmmaker was detained in the Russia-annexed Crimea in spring 2014. The Russian prosecutors charged him with preparation of a terrorist act in Crimea. In August 2015, the North Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced him to 20 years in a strict regime colony. In protest, Sentsov refused to eat for 145 days and stopped the hunger strike due to the threat of forced feeding.

On September 7, the prisoners’ exchange took place between Kyiv and Moscow in 35 for 35 format.

24 Ukrainian sailors and 11 political prisoners - already ex-political prisoners - captured by Russia over the past five years, returned to Ukraine. Faces of the released Ukrainian seamen, filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, left activist Oleksandr Kolchenko, journalist Roman Sushchenko, Crimean Tatar Edem Bekirov and the rest of former captives were seen in the crowd.
