The Canadian Senate, the upper house of the country’s parliament decisively supported the ratification of Ukraine-Canada free trade agreement. The bill enjoyed support of 102 senators, which is the absolute majority of votes.

Before the final vote in the third reading, the bill should be once again agreed in the respective parliamentary committee. The final vote could take place in late March or early April. After that, the Governor General of Canada is to sign the Agreement. The document will take effect after it is ratified by the Ukrainian Parliament.

The lower house of the Canadian Parliament ratified the agreement in February 2017.

The document was signed in July 2016, when Canadian leader Justin Trudeau visited Ukraine.
