The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has solved the case of the kidnapping of the top manager of a gas production company. The crime took place in 2012. According to the SBU press office, the official's kidnapping was ordered by his former business partner.
"The contractor was a Ukrainian MP of several convocations; he chaired the Ministry of Transport and Communications. He gathered a group of people to have that crime committed - including those from criminal circles", reads the message.
The official was kidnapped and held in detention for more than three years. They tortured him and demanded to pay the non-existent debt of 200 million dollars.
Currently, the kidnapped official is a free person, he still serves as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament.
The SBU looks into the case. Five persons have been notified of suspicion of tortures, kidnapping, and extortion. No names are disclosed in the interest of the investigation. However, MP Oleg Seminsky claimed it was him who suffered from the kidnapping.
