The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has exposed a deep-rooted network of the internet agitators, which gathered the citizens of Kyiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions, as the SBU reported.

“The members of the network spread the destructive materials aiming for the artificial escalation of the public and political situation on the eve and during the holding of the presidential elections through Facebook, VKontakte and Twitter social networks as their curators ordered,” the message said.

According to the SBU, the Russian curators had over 50 groups in the social media with the audience of over 1,5 million users.

It is noted that the SBU officers processed 17 facts of the interference of the Russian special services into the elections process in the country by spread of fake information only during the first quarter of 2019.

Earlier Security Service of Ukraine have exposed the anti-Ukrainian internet agitators in the group consisting of four citizens of Mykolaiv and four citizens of Odesa.

Besides, SBU exposed the spy ring of the Chief Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Donbas.
