The employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained the former deputy of the Economy Minister who is suspected in the state treason, as the SBU reported.

Ex-deputy of the minister, officials of Ukrainian center Security, and Artem Company made a contract on the production and establishment of the production line of artillery shells with a foreign company. According to the contract, the total sum made $16.5 million.

Later, over $8.2 million of a down payment was transferred to the accounts of fictitious offshore enterprises. The members of the schemes appropriated this money. The company with which the contract was made did not supply goods. Then such actions jeopardized the provision of Ukrainian military with munitions during the counteraction Russian aggression.

The ex-deputy minister is notified about the suspicion in the state treason. The law enforcers also detained the head of the state enterprise and representative of the foreign company. The official has already faced the restrictive measure in the form of the detention for two months with the right for $112.495 bail. The restrictive measure for the foreigner to be decided.

Earlier, we reported that SBU suspects its employee Dmytro Karelin of the recruitment of the citizens of Crimea for collection of the information about pro-Ukrainian activists on the peninsula.
