The UN Security Council commented on the death of Vitaly Churkin, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, calling him a “prominent Russian diplomat”. This is stated in an statement on the UN official web-site.
“The members of the Security Council were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Ambassador Vitly Churkin, prominent Russian diplomat and Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations on 20 February 2017,” reads the message.
