Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), informed France Ambassador to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins that Kyiv had fulfilled all the necessary conditions for the summit in the "Normandy format" to take place and now the Russian Federation must take reciprocal steps. This was reported by the NSDC's press service.
"We appreciate the efforts of President Emmanuel Macron to organize the Normandy Summit on December 9," Danilov said.
He summed up that Ukraine made every effort to hold this meeting: it exchanged prisoners, disengaged forces and equipment at three sites in Stanytsia Luhanska, Zolote and Petrivske, and opened a bridge crossing in Luhansk.
According to Danilov, now Kyiv is waiting for the Russian Federation to take reciprocal steps during the negotiations.
As we reported earlier, leaders of the Normandy Quartet’s countries (Russia, Ukraine, France, Germany) may sign a framework document on perspectives of Donbas political regulation in Paris, on December 9.
“The document, which may be suggested for leaders of the countries to apply on the results of the summit, is ready and approved. He has framework nature and contains further steps for resolving under the Normandy format in compliance with the Minsk complex of measures as the basis of the peace process,” the source stated.
