Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said that sanctions would be imposed against some members of the Verkhovna Rada in the near future. He stated this on the air of Freedom of speech with Savik Shuster show.
Danilov did not give the names of the MPs, but noted that it would be "not a one-time action."
“I am sure that in the near future, sanctions will be introduced against a certain category of persons - both individuals and legal entities. Moreover, I can say with confidence that there will be a number of MPs who are sitting in the Verkhovna Rada today. We have more than enough arguments, to implement it. If someone thinks that this is some kind of one-time action, then he is deeply mistaken," said Danilov.
The NSDC Secretary added that those involved in the war in Donbas and the informational anti-Ukrainian war will be brought to justice.
Danilov previously stated that since 2017, Ukraine has imposed sanctions on 1228 of its own citizens.
President Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on five-year sanctions against 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZіK TV channels and the Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Opposition Platform - For Life party Taras Kozak who owns them on February 2. Journalist Kyrylo Vyshynsky drew attention to the fact that this happened shortly after Zelensky's visit to the US Embassy, where he watched the broadcast of Joe Biden's inauguration. In addition, the US Embassy welcomed Zelenskiy's decision to close the channels.
By this decree, he enforced the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions on the cancellation of the broadcasting licenses of the TV channels belonging to Taras Kozak (112 Ukraine, NewsOne, ZIK). According to the decree that is eligible since the moment of signature, the TV channels faced sanctions that will be active for five years. These sanctions make broadcasting impossible.
