The number of migrants in the border area from the Belarusian side is growing. According to the Polish border service, there is now an attempt at a massive breakthrough into the EU.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, together with the Prime Ministers of Lithuania and Latvia, are considering the possibility of enacting Art. 4 of NATO.

It all started with the fact that last Monday migrants from the Middle East, accompanied by the Belarusian military, began to storm the border into the European Union. All this time they have been living in a tent camp near the border crossing in Kuznica.

Clashes and water cannons

The situation escalated this morning. There are reports that a crowd of migrants is heading towards the border with Poland (the border crossing at Bruzgi-Kuznica).

For about a week they lived in tents at freezing temperatures, they did not have enough food and water. Now migrants say they want to legally cross the border. The illegal aliens prepared for the assault better than last week, Gazeta Wyborcza reports.

Now at the checkpoint Bruzgi-Kuznica the police and water cannons are on the one side, on the other - a crowd of migrants. A wave of migrants broke through the fence (not the border fence). There are really a lot of people, the column stretched for about 1 km, some of them are still leaving the camp.

A helicopter of Polish services is flying over the Kuznica. Polish security forces photographed the situation near the Bruzgi checkpoint from the air:

The migrant camp is empty. They all went to the border.

Photos and recordings of crowds of migrants are published on social networks by Belarusian state and independent media. Here you can see people walking in a column through the forest. In the next video, migrants sit on the ground in front of a barbed wire fence. On the other side are the Polish services. Other footage shows hundreds of people walking through the fence on the Belarusian side.

At the same time, the Border Committee of Belarus reported that “on the morning of Monday, November 15, the refugees, hoping for a positive outcome of the situation, gathered warm clothes, tents, sleeping bags. By noon, they organized themselves into a large column and began to move in the direction of the Bruzgi checkpoint. Refugees emphasize their exclusively peaceful intentions and are ready for any situation. At the head of the column are women with small children, "the message says.

Two RT journalists detained

Polish services have detained two journalists from the French branch of Russia Today on the Polish-Belarusian border, journalist Cesary Faber said on Twitter.

The information was confirmed by the Podlasie police. Station reporter David Khalifa described the situation from the village of Usnarz-Gorny, 100 meters from the border.

Podlaska police spokesman Tomasz Krupa said that the journalists were in the emergency zone without the necessary permits.

EU sanctions against Belarus

The foreign ministers of the EU countries have approved new criteria for sanctions against Belarus, journalist Rikard Jozwiak said on Twitter.

The actual list of citizens and organizations against whom the sanctions will be imposed will not be ready today.

About 30 Belarusian officials involved in the situation with migrants may also be subject to sanctions. The EU is also considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against the Minsk International Airport. The new restrictions will include airlines and travel agencies.

Will Poland ask for help?

On Sunday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that in the event of a crisis, the government is considering the possibility of NATO's participation.

"The Polish border will become an effective and final barrier for the actions of Alexander Lukashenko. Together with the Prime Ministers of Lithuania and Latvia, we are considering the possibility of enacting Article 4 of NATO," Morawiecki said.

He stated that it is not enough to just publicly express concern. Concrete steps and commitment from the Alliance are now needed.
