Ukrainian school students will be studying media literacy as a school subject. Anna Novosad, Ukraine's Education Minister said so while speaking to the press.
"I believe that certain information hygiene is an extra important competence, which everyone has to possess, regardless the age. It is crucial to start working with media literacy, and we currently are bringing it to the State Standard of the Basic Education, and we will keep doing it via the education programs", Novosad said.
According to her, the State Standard is being developed, and it is supposed to be presented by March 2020.
According to media reports, this meets the standard of 5th-9th grades of the new Ukrainian school.
"We need another two years to bring it to the primary education, and we'll have the 5th grade, which will be studying under the new curriculum", the Minister said.
