The Security Service of Ukraine holds a search in the office of Wnet provider in Kyiv. Olena Gitlyanska, the speaker of the Security Service of Ukraine reported this at Facebook.
She specified that the searches are approved and hold within the open criminal investigation under the Part 3 article 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine Funding for actions made with intense of the forcible change or deposition of the constitutional system or conquest of the state power, changing of the territory borders or state border of Ukraine.
The Security Service will announce the details of the search after the end of the investigating actions.
According to some information, the searches are held at the house of the provider’s management.
Wnet is the national IP-operator of Ukraine that has two own data-centers and 9 regional offices and the main office in Kyiv. The company is founded in 1999.
As we reported earlier, Ukraine's President signed a decree that blocks Russian social networks "Odnoklassniki" and "VKontakte" in Ukraine, as well as "Yandex" search engine and postal service Mail.Ru on May 16. Sanctions against Russian companies took force in Ukraine. VKontakte, Yandex, Odnoklassniki and other, 468 legal entities overall, as well as over a thousand individuals are on the new sanction list.
The Security Service of Ukraine conducted the searches at the offices of Yandex Ukraine on May 29. The investigative actions were held in the frames of the criminal proceedings inn treason case.
The management of the company is suspect to illegally gather, storage and transfer of the personal data of the Ukrainians to Russia. The Yandex Company claimed that its workers did not transfer the personal data of the Ukrainians users to Russia.
