Ukraine’s security service, the SBU, detained the suspect in the murder of SBU Colonel Oleksandr Kharaberyush; he perished in March 2017, when an explosive device in his car went off. Vasyl Hrytsak, the head of the Security Service, said this at a briefing on October 31.
‘The investigation team and operatives did a lot of work, which resulted in today’s detention of the suspect in Odesa. She is Yulia Prasolova, resident of Donetsk, born in 1988; she came to Odesa to get the biometric ID. The woman belonged to the so-called Special Ops Centre, led by the self-styled Ministry of State Security of ‘Donetsk People’s Republic’ and funded by Russia’s special services’, Hrytsak said.
The official added that Prasolova received USD 15,000 for planting the bomb inside Kharaberyush’s car. ‘The investigation continues,’ Hrytsak concluded.
Oleksandr Kharaberyush, who was killed in Mariupol in March 2017, served as the Colonel of the SBU. Donetsk region prosecutor’s office considered the assault a terrorist act.
