The judicial system in Ukraine is ill because of the people like Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko. Nadiya Savchenko, the Ukrainian MP who recently got out of the detention facility said this on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
'The judicial system is sich thanks to the non-educated Prosecutor General, which is the way Lutsenko is. All this pressure remains the way it was before - the absence of professionalism, and it's a dirty job, actually. Thus, it's something all lawyers know very well - the judicial system is sick, but people want to finally recover, get better, feel the freedom', Savchenko said.
Savchenko is the former Air Force officer and Ukrainian MP who previously fought alongside Ukrainian troops in Donbas. She was captured by Russian militants and then sent to Russia. She survived several rounds of severe hunger strike and was released in 2017. She returned to Ukraine and was granted the status of the MP.
Last year, Savchenko and former officer Volodymyr Ruban were detained and charged with state treason and coup d'etat attempt. According to Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, the investigation found out that Savchenko planned to go for a massacre at the session hall in the Ukrainian parliament, using hand grenades and a machine gun. He added that Savchenko and Ruban were going to shoot at Petro Poroshenko's presidential cortege.
On April 16, Savchenko and Ruban were released from the detention facility; the reason is that the restriction measure was over, and the new one was not chosen yet.
