Bacho Korchilava, an ex-press-officer of the Georgian Embassy in Ukraine in 2005 - 2010 in the times of Viktor Yushchenko presidency, commented on today's resignation of his compatriot Mikheil Saakashvili

I think that Mikheil Saakashvili’s resignation is the beginning of a new political project and the desire to make reforms. To my mind it will be the area of activity of Sakvarelidze or Chumak.

Khatia Dekanoidze stands a bit aside from Mikheil Saakashvili at the moment. I think sooner or later Khatia will have to leave the post and most likely she will be with them. Because these people were making reforms together in Georgia. Katia was conducting them on a lower level, Saakashvili – on a higher one.

Saakashvili is going to Kyiv to realize a political project here. Doing this outside of Kyiv is unreasonable and irrational.

To achieve his political goals Mikheil Saakashvili can join forces with people whom he theoretically can associate. We saw such example when he had to get Eurovision for Odesa, and he reached out to Mr. Trukhanov. Saakashvili as a real politician don’t have friends and enemies in politics. He only has interests.

In my opinion any forces except for pro-Russian and frankly marginalized could be his allies. This is a principle he does not violate.

And I think that Bankova will react severely to Saakashvili’s critics of the President. They will try to discredit him, but for Mikheil Saakashvili who survived clashes with the President Shevardnadze – a person with sophisticated methods and subtle political games, this will not pose much of a problem. He will cope with this somehow.
