Mikheil Saakashvili, the former Georgian leader and ex-governor of Odesa region sent President Petro Poroshenko the letter, offering him 'reconciliation'. On Tuesday, December 19, it was released for wide publicity by the presidential administration.
The letter appears to be written in Russian and has a lot of orthographic and punctuation mistakes.
‘In his letter, Saakashvili admitted he allowed many political mistakes. He said he supported the idea to de-escalate the situation and offered negotiations with the president’s envoy’, Svyatoslav Tseholko, the presidential press secretary, commented on the letter.
He added that the presidential administration decided to release the letter due to multiple requests of the Ukrainian media.
