On the tenth day of the hunger strike, Mikheil Saakashvili's condition worsened, it is difficult for him to walk and speak. This was announced by his personal doctor Nikoloz Kipshidze, who visited him in prison, reports Georgia Online.
According to the doctor, Saakashvili also refuses to accept honey and juice. Currently, he only accepts water.
He also said that the ex-president of Georgia has a rare blood disease - thalassemia, in which fasting is strictly prohibited. The doctor informed about his diagnosis with the consent of Saakashvili.
Earlier it was reported that Saakashvili lost 12 kilograms on the eighth day of the hunger strike.
On October 1, Georgian ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili wrote on his Facebook page that he returned to his homeland after eight years. However, in the evening, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said that Saakashvili had been detained in Georgia by law enforcement officers and had already been taken to a penitentiary institution.
On the same day, the Ombudsman of Georgia Nino Lomjaria reported that Saakashvili went on a hunger strike in prison and demanded a meeting with the consul of Ukraine.
The Office of the President of Ukraine said that they regard the detention of Mikheil Saakashvili in Tbilisi as revenge against him. After that, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine would deal with the issue of returning Mikheil Saakashvili, detained in Georgia.
