Mikheil Saakashvili who broke through the ranks of Ukrainian border guards at Shegyni border checkpoint on Sunday evening, came to Lviv late that day. The politician met with the press and Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovy.
The two officials had a lunch at a local restaurant, which was seized by fighters of Donbas volunteer battalion. They didn’t let anyone in.
Saakashvili and Sadovy approached the press after midnight. The mayor welcomed Saakashvili, saying that the things, which took place on the border checkpoint on Sunday, are unacceptable; he referred to canceling trains that Saakashvili used so as to get to Ukraine, and wiring Shegyni checkpoint.
Saakashvili, in turn, expressed outrage due to the fact that ‘Interior Minister Arsen Avakov added him to the Myrotvorets criminal database; the Georgian insisted it was Avakov’s personal initiative. The ex-Odesa governor denies that his supporters broke the law when crossing the border. ‘The people had the right to do what they’ve done,’ he said.
