Saakashvili provides document that confirms his legal stay in Ukraine

He intends to continue to strive for the restoration of his citizenship

Mikheil Saakashvili, the former head of Odesa region claimed that he got the document from the State Migration Service that confirms his legal stay at the territory of Ukraine on November 7. He published the document at Facebook.

‘Finally I got the document from the migration service that confirms that I stay at the territory of Ukraine legally. Of course, I am not content with this but strive for the right to restore my citizenship through the court’, he wrote.

As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine signed the degree on revoking Saakashvili’s citizenship this July, due to the false information that the latter gave while applying. In particular, Saakashvili didn’t specify he was wanted in Georgia.

Ukraine’s prosecutor general’s office began checking Georgia’s request to extradite Mikheil Saakashvili, which reached the Ukrainian authorities on September 5. Georgian prosecutor general’s office charges the ex-president with embezzlement and power abuse.

Mikheil Saakashvili had also asked for political asylum in Ukraine, which he was refused.

Later he appealed the decree of President Petro Poroshenko on the termination of Ukrainian citizenship.
