The Georgia’s denial to vote for the recent PACE resolutions on Ukraine will remain the black spot on the country’s history. Mikheil Saakashvili, former President of Georgia and the current Head of Odesa regional administration said this, commenting on the vote that took place in Strasbourg earlier this week.
‘The fact that the Georgian delegation failed to vote for sanctions against Russia and to support Ukraine is a disgrace; however, we’ve got to understand the situation Georgia is in now. It will be the black spot on the history of Georgia, and it absolutely doesn’t reflect the view of the Georgian society,’ Saakashvili said.
As we reported, on October 12, PACE approved two resolutions about Ukraine. Specifically, MPs of the Assembly recognized the Donbas conflict as act of Russian aggression; they said that local elections in Donbas are impossible due to the absolute absence of civil security. Besides, the MPs condemned the Russian Duma elections held in the occupied Crimea.
