Saakashvili fainted after meeting lawyers in prison

Former Georgian leader Mikheil Saakashvili fainted after the meeting with lawyers in Gldani prison. They took him out of the meeting room on stretchers. Beka Basilaia, the lawyer told that to News-Georgia.

"Misha was leaving the room after the meeting with lawyers, he slipped and fell down. After that, I didn't hear his voice anymore, he did not open his eyes. They brought stretchers and took him away... After that, he felt very sick", Basilaia said.

Currently, the lawyer has no idea about the former president's health condition. The Special Penitentiary Service of Georgia did not give any comments.

According to Mtavari TV channel, a lot of policemen and special vehicles gathered near Gldani prison. The reporters did not see any ambulance cars next to the main entrance.

Earlier, doctors claimed Saakashvili was in critical condition and could fall into a coma.

As it was reported before, former president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili has reported that he arrived in his motherland for the first time since 2013 on October 1. However, that same evening Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated that Saakashvili was arrested and had already been taken to the penitentiary. There Saakashvili went on a hunger strike.

Soon, ex-president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili was transferred to the individual cell. Saakashvili refused to interrupt his hunger strike despite the worsening of health.

The Ministry of Justice of Georgia has proposed to the Ministry of Health to create a multifunctional group of doctors to assess the health of the ex-president's prisoner. Later it became known that the consilium of Georgian doctors recommended hospitalizing the arrested.

On November 9, Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said that he was beaten during his transfer from the Rustavi prison to the prison hospital in Gldani.

On November 14, nine opposition members of parliament went on a hunger strike in Georgia. It will continue until former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is transferred to a civilian clinic.
