Mikheil Saakashvili, the former president of Georgia and ex-head of the Odesa regional state administration, has confirmed that he will be appointed as chairman of the executive committee of the National Reform Council. He stated this in a comment to Deutsche Welle.
"Chairman of the executive committee, not secretary," Saakashvili said in response to a request to confirm that he should be appointed as secretary of the National Reform Council.
However, Saakashvili could not name the exact date of his appointment - according to media reports, it could happen on Wednesday, April 6.
As we reported earlier, President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili stated that the approval of Saakashvili in Ukraine would be "unacceptable and misguiding".
"Georgia and Ukraine remain close strategic partners. Our cooperation is based on the ages-long friendship between the nations and respect of our common interests and aspirations. In spite of that, our partner country considers a high political appointment for the candidacy that is considered guilty by all three judicial branches in Georgia. One has to note that it caused well-reasoned concerns and reaction of our leadership and society," she noted.
