The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak said that the Russian Federation’s reports about the allegedly preparing chemical attack in Donbas are provocative, reports LIGA.net.

"This is a provocation, nothing more," he said, commenting on reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are preparing an offensive in eastern Ukraine.

He also stressed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine fulfill all the agreements concluded between the parties, including the armistice, which began at midnight on December 29.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Ukrainian authorities allegedly intend to make an armed provocation on the administrative border with the annexed Crimea in the last decade of December. He stressed that Russia is ready to give a decisive response in the case of "provocation by Ukraine" on the border with Crimea.

Ukraine will retain control over the Sea of Azov. This was stated by the Ukrainian Navy commander Igor Voronchenko, reports Deutsche Welle.

“We’ll not lose control. I’m not going to give a clear assessment now. The situation is very difficult, especially in the Azov Sea region and at key points in the Ukrainian South and East. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are in a condition in which they are able to complete missions. Now it’s not the year 2014”, he declared.

At the same time, he noted that the balance of forces in the Azov Sea is not in favor of Ukraine.
