The special services of the Russian Federation tarnish the image of Ukraine in the U.S. with the help of its prank phone-callers. Valerшy Chaly, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. made such statement as Voice of America reported.
According to him, the activity of the prank phone-callers tied with the Russian special services has increased in the U.S.
“We have the evidence of the systematic work. If there were some particular cases earlier: fishing information from the U.S. Secretary of Energy, from the congressmen, and the U.S. ambassadors, but now I see that it is the systematic work against the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States,” he said.
According to him, a few proper calls were made in the U.S. last week.
“There are a few calls in a week: three from the governor, two from the city mayors; it is impossible to do this without the gathering of the information…We know that the serious preparation of such talks take place and not one person works on it. Moreover, such information is gathered systematically by the proper services,” Chaly added.
He also said that there is information about letters supposedly from the officials of Ukraine to the officials of the seven states of the U.S.
According to Chaly, the Russian special services try to complicate the work of the Ukrainian Embassy in the U.S., tarnish the image of the country and gather as much information as possible to influence the political decisions.
On November 9, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Valeriy Chaly reported about informational attacks at the Embassy. In particular, fake calls to the American partners on his behalf.
Earlier two Russians were detained in Switzerland under a suspicion of trying to perform a cyber attack at the lab of World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in Lausanne.
