Edem Bekirov's health conditions worsened even more than they were; the Crimean Tatar activist illegally held by Russia in the occupied Crimea suffocates and coughs with blood. His lawyer Islyam Velyaliev reported that, quoted by Krym.Realii.
May 28, the lawyer visited Bekirov who stays at a remand centre in Simferopol.
'The health condition has been worsening since Friday. He described it as symptoms of suffocation. At first, the person chokes, tries to get some air and then coughs, and there's blood in that cough. When it happened first, he and his cell mate knocked at the cell's door for a while, Though the cell is in the medical unit, none of the workers came. One just came when the attack was already gone', Velyaliev said.
According to him, Bekirov has not been eating for 14 hours now (as of evening of May 28, - 112 International). This is due to the increased blood sugar level - even though he takes insulin prescribed by the doctors.
The lawyer turned tof the remand centre chief, demanding to examine Bekirov and put him into a hospital. 'Because at this rate of the symptoms showing up, there will be no one left to save', Velyaliev added.
