Russian ombudsman Tatiana Moskalkova stated she expects the termination of the criminal case against CEO of RIA News Ukraine Kyrylo Vyshynsky after the inauguration of Volodymyr Zelensky as TASS reported.
“I think that today with the change of the authority, the attitude to this case will be changed and the case of Vyshynsky will be terminated,” she stated.
Besides, Moskalkova expressed confidence that the legal basis, which defends the journalists all over the worlds should be rebooted.
Oleksy Pushkov, the Russian official stated that the attitude of Zelensky as the president toward the case of Vyshynsky will be one of the indicators upon which Russia is going to estimate the readiness of the new Ukrainian authorities “to change the stylistics and approach” to the bilateral relations.
On May 15, 2018, Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) considered the detention of the head of RIA News Ukraine agency’s office.
Kremlin has already responded to the incident and called the actions of the SBU outrageous. Besides, Russia promised to assume reciprocal measures. Then, the state sent a protest note over searches at the media office.
As it was reported, the former RIA News Head Kyrylo Vyshynsky was transferred to Kyiv to the Lukyanivska prison.
