The status of the national flag of the unrecognized Transnistria may be equated to that of the Russian Federation. The Federal outlet of the Russian Federation reports that.
The initiative of the government of the unrecognized republic was supported by the so-called Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the first reading.
“Hoisting of a Russian tricoloured flag on all the governmental buildings together with the national flag of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic shall mean strengthening of the Transnistrian statehood and a new stage of integration with Russia,” reads the explanatory note to the document.
Earlier, the pro-Russian president of Moldova Ihor Dodon promised to hold the referendum on the status of the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
The Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic proclaimed its independence on August 25, 1991 after a short armed conflict rose between the separatists and the Moldovian armed forces. The conflict ended in separatists’ victory de facto, who were supported by the Russian army.
As it was reported earlier, Moldovan President met with the head of unrecognized Transnistria. They discussed issues related to the freedom of movement of the inhabitants of Transnistria, recognition of documents on education received in educational institutions of the Left Bank, regarding telecommunications and the establishment of railway communication between the two banks of the Dniester. According to the two interlocutors, economic issues play a very important role in the relations between Chisinau and Tiraspol.
