Mercenaries who are in control of energy infrastructure in the occupied Donbas are developing their own energy concern called "Energia Donbassa". They intend to compose the concern from coal mines and thermal power plants that they captured in eastern Ukraine, Novosti Donbassa reported.

Militants of the so-called DNR (Donetsk People's Republic) captured two mines, Torezantratsyt and Komsololets Donbassa. They are supposed to join the new concern.

The industrial union of energy objects was created in spring 2019. It aimed to close the power cycle of the militant-held territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Apart from the mentioned objects, it also includes other captured companies, such as Starobeshivska and Zuivska thermal power plants, maintenance service companies, and an entire research and development institute.

Meanwhile, militants of the self-proclaimed LNR (Luhansk People's Republic) created their unitary enterprise Vostokugol. Some of the non-performing coal mines were closed, but those still working are included in the enterpirse.
