Turkish court found guilty and sentenced Russian citizen Renat Bakiev to 6 years and 3 months of imprisonment. He was accused of an intention to down a military jet of the United States, reports Sabah.

Earlier, the Hurriyet agency reported that the man was detained in July for allegedly planning to use an unmanned aerial vehicle to shoot down an American airplane that was based at the Incirlik Air Base.

Also, the Turkish authorities believe that the Russian was a member of a terrorist group. According to law enforcers, in his testimony Bakiev allegedly acknowledged his devotion to jihadists, and also said that he had planned to strike a U.S. aircraft in Syria, but failed. In addition, it was noted that ISIS was to sponsor the attack.
