The Investigative Committee of Russia opened the criminal case against Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatars Refat Chubarov as the committee reported.

“The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Crimea and Sevastopol city opened the criminal case against Chair of public association Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov who is charged with the organization of mass unrests involving violence,” the message said.

The Investigative Committee accuses Chubarov of ‘the organization of mass unrest near the building of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea’.

“In the result of the mass unrests organized by Mejlis leader, the extraordinary session of the lawmakers of the Supreme Council was disrupted, at least 80 Crimeans were injured and got traumas of varying degrees of severity, two of them – a man and a woman – died,” the message said.

Refat Chubarov commented on this information on Facebook and noted that “Moscow tries to intimidate all of us on the eve of May 3 – the date of holding of the international peace non-violent campaign World against violation and occupation. Dignity march. And of course, the signal to everyone who in any form confronted, confronts and will confront the Russian aggression and fight for the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea”.

As we reported, the border guards of Bucharest airport confiscated the passport of Chairman of Mejlis of Crimean Tatars Refat Chubarov. He was held in the transfer zone of the airport for over three hours.
