There is a political understanding between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President-elect Donald Trump. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the margins of the APEC summit in Peru, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reports.
"They definitely present political understanding. After Trump officially takes the reins in his hands, the challenge is to transfer this attitude into practical actions. We are ready for this", he said.
According to Lavrov, during a telephone conversation Putin discussed with Trump the state of affairs in Russian-American relations, and it was noted that they now are worse than ever.
Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held the first talks on the phone on November 14. The Kremlin said that Putin and Trump "came together to assess the current extremely poor condition" of US-Russian relations, and "spoke in favor of active joint work to their normalization in the direction of constructive cooperation on a wide range of issues."
Note, previously the Russian newspaper Izvestia reported, citing a senior source in the US Republican Party, that US President-elect Donald Trump will visit Russia after the inauguration on January 20, 2017.
Later the Press Secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov denied information about Trump’s visit in Russia after his inauguration.
