Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov named the purpose of the murder of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov, reports RIA News.
"As the President Vladimir Putin said during his talk with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and in his video message, we are convinced that the main purpose of those who conceived this barbaric act is to undermine the process of normalization of relations between Russia and Turkey," Lavrov said.
Karlov’s murder was committed with the objective to prevent effective fighting against terrorism in Syria, according to Lavrov.
"This is a goal with unsuitable means. It will not work," the Minister concluded.
Earlier it was reported that relations between Russia and Turkey will stay unchanged after Ambassador murder. Turkish Foreign Minister confirmed participation in the meeting on Syria in Moscow scheduled for Tuesday.
