Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov believes that Ukraine is allegedly "begging for something" in the context of Nord Stream 2 and Kyiv "should have dignity." Lavrov stated this at a briefing.

"Of course, our Ukrainian friends are always trying to bring the topic of Nord Stream 2 to the level of such hysteria. It is their habit, it has become a rule - begging for something from the West. Here is Nord Stream 2: no, stop it, but you won't be able to stop it, then give us money as compensation and let us into NATO, let us into the European Union, we are ready for a long time, there is no need to come up with political excuses. They beg and beg," Lavrov said.

In addition, he decided to declare that "the country should probably have some dignity."

"The Ukrainian people with a rich history deserve to be a creator, not a beggar with an outstretched hand," Lavrov said.

Meanwhile, the construction of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline has been fully completed.

The project operator Nord Stream 2 AG wants to put the pipeline into operation by the end of 2021.
