The State Duma of Russia adopted a bill pursuant to amendments to the Constitution, which, among other things, gives the right to the current President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to run again for the office of head of state. It is reported by TASS.
According to one of the new provisions of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the limitation on the number of terms during which one and the same person can hold the post of President of the Russian Federation is applied to the current head of state without taking into account his previous presidential terms.
Thus, this norm allows the current head of state to hold the office of President of the Russian Federation for two more terms.
Iin November last year, members of the State Duma of the Russian Federation voted in the first reading for a bill on the provision of life guarantees to President Vladimir Putin and his family members after the end of his term in office.
The draft law on guarantees assumes that after the end of his term of office, Putin will receive life-long protection from criminal and administrative prosecution.
