Russian court sentences Hizb Ut-Tahrir member Seitosmanov to 17 years in jail

Judges of South District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don delivered a sentence to Crimean Tatar from Sevastopol Enver Seitosmanov. He is sentenced to 17 years in the colony with a strict regime with the restriction of the freedom for a year for political and religious convictions as Crimean Solidarity reported.

“To recognize Enver K. Seitosmanov as guilty in the organization of the activity of the organization, which is according to the legislation of the Russian Federation, considered to be terrorist, in other words, the crime provided by part 1, Article 205.5 of the Russian Criminal Code on the basis of it to appoint the punishment in the form of the deprivation of liberty for 17 years in colony with a strict regime with the restriction of the freedom for a year,” the sentence stated.

Earlier prosecutor Ihor Nadolynsky asked the court to provide 17 years in jail and the judge delivered such a decision.

Akim Bekirov, Yashar Muedinov, Izzet Abdullaev, Asan Yanikov, Servet Haziev, Medgyt Abdurakhmanov and Vladlen Abdulkadyrov will be held in custody until February 2020. 

Hizb Ut-Tahrir is the international Islamic political party that was established in 1953 in East Jerusalem. The organization is recognized as the terrorist one in Russia and Kazakhstan. The members of the party are prosecuted in some countries of the Central Asia but they are not accused of terrorism.

As we reported earlier, Crimean lawyer Emil Kurbedinov had left the temporary detention center in the occupied Simferopol after the administrative arrest. 

He was arrested for five days for the post on Facebook dated by 2013.
