Russian truck convoy blasted in Syria; senior military adviser died

Two Russian soldiers were injured during the explosion in 15 km from Deir ez-Zor

In Syria, the Russian convoy of trucks was blasted with the homemade explosive; as a result, Russian senior military adviser died as Interfax reported.

The incident took place on August 18, 15 km from Deir ez-Zor when the Russian convoy of trucks was returning from the humanitarian action.

Three Russian military were injured during the activation of the explosive device. One of the affected, Russian senior military adviser died during the evacuation and provision of medical aid. He received state award posthumously.

The leadership of the Russian Defense Ministry will provide all necessary aid and support to the family of the deceased.

As for today, about 5,000 Russian military are involved in the war in Syria. Russia continues to supply Syrian President Bashar al-Assad with weapons. Moreover, Moscow provides the Syrian dictator with diplomatic support in the international arena. The strikes performed by the Russian aviation are an important part of the keeping of Assad’s regime. Mostly, they aim against rebel forces, not ISIS.

As we reported, Russian combat aviation delivered an airstrike on the hospital and residential quarters in Syria. The tragedy took place in Ariha village. 11 people, including a child, died in the nighttime attack; another 60 were wounded.
