The Russian cargo ship ARVIN sank off the coast of Turkey in the Black Sea. This was reported by Mash on Telegram.
According to the information, the accident occurred near the town of Bartin. Rescuers are working on the spot, they are looking for 15 crew members.
Also, according to the Anadolu newspaper, three crew members were saved.
"There is no information about the deaths or the sinking of the lifeboats. Due to bad weather conditions, the search and rescue operation is difficult, rescuers are having difficulty heading into the disaster area," said Provincial Governor Sinan Güner.
The search and rescue operation continues. Other sailors, according to rescuers, are believed to be in three boats.
Earlier, the Stevia cargo ship was attacked by pirates in the Gulf of Guinea off the coast of Nigeria. The pirates kidnapped eight crew members, Assafina Magazine reports.
According to the Seafarers Journal, among the eight hostages, six are Ukrainians (captain, chief mate, 2nd mate, chief mech, electrician and wiper). The daughter of one of the captured sailors said that her father works on the STEVIA vessel as the chief mate. The side of the ship owner and the agent do not provide any information. The woman received confirmation that her dad was captured; one of the sailors on board told her so.
