Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov stated that Russian could not be Ukraine's second state language. Danilov stated this in an interview with Ukrayinska Pravda.
"We cannot have Russian as the second language, not because we do not need to study it, we need to know it. If we are talking about Ukraine, Ukrainian should be the state language," he said.
However, Danilov noted that Ukraine should have a second state language, but only English.
"Should there be a second language in Ukraine? Of course. Nevertheless, it should be English, which should be learned in kindergarten. All citizens of Ukraine, if we want to be in a civilized world, must know and use English. It is an important thing," - the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council emphasized.
As we reported earlier, Russia shows signs of readiness to give way in certain topics in negotiations regarding the Donbas conflict.
"I take these things more optimistically. Yes, it is difficult but there is a different key, and a different manner of speech. There is a will, showed by the Russian Federation, a will to find options to bring these positions closer," Reznikov said.
