Kurt Volker, the U.S. Department of the State's Special Envoy for Ukraine's Affairs met with Ukraine's Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak. The meeting took place in Kyiv on Tuesday, the Ukrainian authority's press office reported.
The sides talked through the issues of regional security, the situation in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, the Russian armed aggression in the Kerch Strait and the occupied Donbas.
The Ukrainian minister told Volker that as of December 18, most of the necessary measures were taken as foreseen by the martial law. Poltorak also thanked the U.S. for the 'solid stance' in terms of support of Ukraine.
Volker stressed that the Russian aggression in Ukraine was unacceptable, as the Twitter of the U.S. Embassy quoted him.
'Russia should release the Ukrainian crew members, return the Ukrainian ships and stop preventing the naval transit to and from the Ukrainian ports', reads the message.
Previously, the UN General Assembly passed the resolution 'The Issue of Militarization of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol (Ukraine), as well as parts of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov'.
